Synopsis

Apa jadinya jika dalam satu keluarga terdapat bermacam-macam anggota dengan ras, kewarganegaraan, dan agama yang berbeda?

What will be happened if there are many different kind of race, nationality, and religion in one family?

Keluarga Verneuil baru saja melangsungkan pernikahan putri ketiganya dengan seorang pria keturunan Cina. Sebelumnya, mereka telah menikahkan putri sulungnya dengan pria Yahudi dan putri keduanya dengan pria Muslim. Claude dan Marie, yang merupakan penganut Khatolik Roma, dibuat stress dengan kehadiran ketiga menantu mereka tersebut. Ketiga menantu yang berbeda latar belakang satu sama lain selalu adu pendapat mengenai kebudayaan dan agama masing-masing. Baru saja ketiganya akur, tiba-tiba putri bungsu mereka, Laure, mengabarkan bahwa ia akan menikah dengan seorang pria asal Afrika. Seperti apa jadinya keluarga Verneuil selanjutnya?

The Verneuil family just held their daughter's marriage with a Chinese man. Before that, their first daughter was married to a Jews and their second daughter was married to a Moslem. Claude and Marie, as Catholic Rome, were stressed out because of their son-in-laws. The three son-in-laws had different background one another and they always fought about their culture and religion. Just when they were in peace, all of sudden their youngest daugther, Laure, dropped the news that she would marry an African. What would be happened to the Verneuil next?

Personal Taste

Film ini adalah film berbahasa Perancis pertama yang saya tonton, berhubung film ini diputar oleh guru les bahasa Perancis saya. Meskipun awalnya sempat bingung (karena subtitle yang dipakai juga bahasa Perancis), tapi makin lama saya makin mengerti alur ceritanya.

This film was my first French film that I have ever watched. It's because my French teacher played it. Even though I was confused at first (because the subtitle was also in French), but I finally saw how it went.

Issue dari film ini sendiri sebetulnya sangat sensitif karena menyinggung SARA. Untungnya, cara penyampaiannya dibuat kocak sehingga hal-hal yang mungkin menyinggung penonton justru bisa mengundang senyum. Dari film ini, kita bisa lihat bagaimana perbedaan tiap-tiap anggota tidak selamanya mencerai-beraikan keluarga, tetapi terkadang justru saling melengkapi satu sama lain.

The issue of this film was actually very sensitive because it was racist. Luckily, the story was so funny, so that the sensitive issues  did not offend people, it even made you smile and laugh. On this film, we could see how the difference of people did not always tear the family apart. Sometimes, it even completed each other.

Untuk film ini, saya kasih poin 3,7 dari 5,0. Film ini cukup bagus dan kalau lagi senggang, bolehlah refreshing buat ketawa sambil menonton film ini. Lumayan buat latihan bahasa Perancis juga :)

For this film, I'd give 3.7 out of 5.0. This film is quite good and if you have some leisure time, you can watch this to refresh your mood and laugh while watching this film. And, you can learn French for a little too :)
